Hawthorn Australian IPA

0

The Flavour Merchants established the Hawthorn Brewing Company to provide world class Australian Craft Beers that are heavily influenced by the best the world has to offer. Having lived abroad for many years, the boys at Hawthorn Brewing tasted first-hand the myriad of excellent beers available and the diversity that exists throughout the world.

Style: Australian IPA     ABV: 4.7%

Tasting notes from the brewer: Mild English hops balance the sweet malt nicely, and plenty of dry hopping after the fermentation infuses a floral and spice aroma.

"Is this love,
Is this love
Is this love that I’m feeling?"

Every beer I’ve had from Hawthorn brewery has been pretty darned special and this Australian IPA is no exception. Slightly subtler than a traditional IPA, this beer has an almost perfect balance of malt and four delicious Australian hops. I would happily stay glued to any bar, throwing these bad boys back for as long as RSA laws allowed (and at the right bar hopefully a good deal longer).

Would I buy it again?
Yes, probably within the week.

"Hawthorn Brewery, you’ve done it again."

This beautifully golden IPA was a wave of refreshment on a Friday afternoon after a long week at work. No overbearing flavours. No lingering bitterness. Just a glass of subtle flavours of the good cold stuff. It’s mildly sweet, mildly better and majorly tasty.

Would I buy it again?
I will be heading straight for some of these the next time I’m at Dan Murphy’s.

"Some kind of wonderful."

It's pretty hard to find your perfect beer but I have to say, Hawthorn has found my favourite the ingredients, combined equal parts of each one and slapped it in a bottle. Seriously, this stuff is something else.

I'm a sucker for IPAs and always start with one or two before a session but can never consume more than 3 or 4 as they're pretty heavy and the mouthfuls of hops can become overbearing, but not with this beauty. The hops are deliciously subtle and worth every damn calorie.

Would I buy it again?
Yes, obviously.

“A test match made in heaven.”

While I’m not entirely sure it’s possible to have an ‘Australian Indian Pale Ale’, I rather enjoyed this beer (whatever style it really is). Considering my dislike of IPAs, the flavour of this beer is quite pleasant – it’s smooth and quite palatable. The colour is a deep orange and the finish is short and crisp.

This is the type of beer you could drink happily at a bar while secretly listening in on the conversations occurring on neighbouring tables. It’s also the type that could make a painful Tinder date almost bearable.

Yes, I have a problem with it being called Australian Indian Pale Ale, but I think that’s something I can get over as I buy another.

Would I buy it again?
Yeah.
