Father’s Day gift guide – 2022

Unsure of what to get the big man for Father’s Day this year? Don’t fret, ManSpace magazine has you covered with a range of gifts for the dad looking for food, drinks, tech and more.

If your dad is over the moon with a liquid gift, you’re in luck. Two new gins have touched down in Australia: Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation Gin and the French Citadelle Gin recently released the Jardin d’Été drop.

Aviation is, in my opinion, the new go-to for all gin mixers with strong flavours of juniper, cardamon, cinnamon and French lavender. Also, there’s a hilarious video that has Ryan talk through the entire distilling process from serenading the bottles to apologising to the berries.

Citadelle Gin’s Jardin d’Été bottles up a European summer right as Aussies endure this freezing cold winter. This is one of the more floral gins I’ve tasted and adds a different element to the classic spirit.

if gin isn’t his thing, then there’s the Diplomático Exclusiva Reserva, the most approachable yet admired spirit to come from the Venezuelan distillery (read: the perfect present for a thirsty dad). Opening up with aromas of orange peel, toffee and liquorice, it is silky on the palate and follows with hints of toffee fudge for a seductive and long-lasting finish. Hence why the rum is granted global prestige. Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva is available for purchase at Dan Murphy’sVintage Cellars and Boozebud.

For the designated driver dad (and perhaps a dad you wouldn’t mind giving a few more lifts), Big Drop Brewing recently released their non-alcoholic Woodcutter Brown Ale. This refreshing, hoppy drop is one of the better non-alcs on the market right now and would make a wonderful Father’s Day gift.

On the food side of things, Traeger Grills has released a simplified version of the traditional beer can chicken with its porcelain chicken throne (those are some words I never thought I’d write). The throne sits in a BBQ or oven, holding the chicken upright while keeping the meat as moist as possible during the cooking process.

Or, if dad is struggling with cutting cooking twine, Traeger’s titanium-coated cooking scissors are the perfect BBQ tool for those all-day roasts. Both Traeger products are $59.95 and can be purchased on their website.

If you’re sick of dad playing his favourite tunes out of a flimsy phone speaker or out of a laptop, you could buy him the SOUNDBOOKS GO, a  portable speaker that doesn’t compromise on sound quality. The speaker is ideal for bringing people together in large environments or giving a couple of listeners the best possible experience. It can be purchased at JB Hi-Fi or on their website.

For the dad that wants music on the go, Skullcandy has released the Push Active earbuds, made for people on the move. The earbuds come armed with hands-free voice control, flexible over-ear hooks and superior water and sweat resistance, they are the ultimate audio partner for any active adventure. They can be purchased online or via JB Hi-Fi.

And then for the dad that likes his food a little spicy, there’s the TRUFF WHITE HOTTER sauce, an interesting take of truffle oil-infused hot sauce. It’s a curated blend of red chilli, organic agave and white truffle, with a hint of coriander, it can be bought online or via David Jones.
