Globally renowned EarFun earbuds enter Australian market

From CES to iF, US brand EarFun has received countless accolades for innovation across its ever-evolving product range. Now the highly anticipated brand is available to Australian consumers, with Melbourne-based Addicted to Audio appointed as the official distributor for the brand.

Established in 2018, EarFun has grown from humble beginnings into the most awarded new audio brand – having received two CES Innovation Awards honourees and an iF Design Award in 2020. Started by an experienced group of industrial designers, acoustic engineers and music enthusiasts who shared the goal of creating next-generation wireless audio devices, the team is driven by a passion for music and a commitment to delivering solutions that use the latest technologies to improve the audio experience.

With six products across the brand, Addicted to Audio will first be stocking the Air Pro (Black and White) and Free 2 models.

The brand’s first noise-cancelling TWS earbuds, the EarFun AirPro model features a sound signature designed and engineered by Edifier. Building from previous models venerated for their quality, value, and price-defying performance, the only thing missing from their offering was ANC.

With a drive to provide the best possible products compared to other brands on the market, EarFun aims to take universal features and enhance them within its own product innovation. The Air Pro features EarFun’s innovative and proprietary QuietSmart technology, an advanced hybrid active noise cancelling system that reduces outside sound by up to a significant 38db. That’s six to ten decibels higher than the majority of the earbuds in the segment at the moment.

Where most earbuds are still using a regular and singular ANC approach, the Air Pro’s hybrid ANC QuietSmart is an implementation that combines a Feedforward mic and Feedback mic on each earbud that continuously adjusts what users are hearing. QuietSmart uses a sophisticated algorithm that monitors and analyzes sound both inside the ear cavity and outside in the environment, allowing it to fill in missing sound frequencies. Acoustic characteristics between the driver unit and ears are being monitored at a rate of 400 times per second. The intended result is an informed suppression of ambient noise without compromising on the resulting audio experience.

Using Bluetooth 5.0, the Air Pro maintains a stable and secure connection up to 10m, obstacles notwithstanding. But what is all the tech worth if the battery can’t keep up? The Air Pro delivers 9 hours of use with an additional 23 hours via multiple charges using the USB-C Quick Charge case, totalling a hefty 32 hours of runtime.

Following the success of its predecessor, the EarFun Free 2 TWS earbuds receive several significant upgrades that continue the brand’s philosophy of providing competitive and accessible value.

A major upgrade featured in the EarFun Free 2 is the adoption of Qualcomm’s aptX audio technology – significantly improving wireless audio quality. The codecs bring a much more terrific refinement to the audio and streaming experience and widen compatibility with a range of source devices. This is a reaffirming example of where EarFun puts constant effort and helps it maintain an edge over the segment, by staying true to the bottom-line: sound.

On the outside, the intuitive touch controls give users access to the Free 2’s many features. The EarFun Free 2 also offers a Single or Paired mode, giving the user some flexibility. Either earbud can be used independently, or the two earbuds can be paired again for stereo sound. But the best addition is volume controls, preventing the need to reach for a device to adjust sound levels.
