The Sea of Stars, as it is commonly referred, located on Vaadhoo Island in the Maldives, is like something out of this world.
While one might be deceived into thinking the water is reflecting the stars above, phytoplankton is the real reason this stunning event occurs. The tiny marine creatures are bioluminescent and as a result send out a stunning blue hue throughout the water. It doesn’t happen all the time though.
Like most things connected to Mother Nature, the phenomenon is hard to predict but is reportedly more common in late summer.
