Top 10 Knockouts

We’re getting pumped for UFC 196 when two of the best trash talkers in the sport Connor Mcgregor and Nate Diaz are going to come to blows. Getting into the swing of things for the big fight on Sunday we thought we would ease into the weekend with 10 of the best knockouts in fight sport history.

10. Mark Hunt Vs. Roy Nelson at UFC Fight Night

Had to put this one in for the Aussie factor but take nothing away from this brutal knock out. It’s always fun to see two mammoths of men collide in the centre of the octagon and this was no exception with this knock out that was awarded best knock out of 2014.

9. Cocky guy knocked out

They say the bigger they are the harder they fall but just as true the cockier they are, the more fun it is to watch them fall. This guy thinks he is god’s gift to the universe and he was given time to dream about that as he lay sleeping in the middle of the cage.

8. Ali Vs. Frazer

It was dubbed the Fight of the Century. At the end of round 14 Frazier held a lead on all three scorecards. Early in round 15, Frazier landed a gnarly left hook that saw Ali hit the deck and seeing butterflies. Like the champ he was, Ali got straight back up and managed to keep his feet flat on solid ground for the rest of the round. Frazier had retained the title with a unanimous decision, dealing Ali his first professional loss.

7. Anthony Pettis Vs. Benson Henderson at UFC 164

Ok technically this is a knock down and not a knock out but damn it is just so pretty to watch. Pettis jumped off the wall to flykick Benson Henderson in the head who had no idea it was coming.

6. Pacquiao Vs. Ricky Hatton

Billed as The Battle of East and West, Pacquiao took on Hatton at the MGM Grand Las Vegas and knocked him down twice during the first round, and again in the second round to win by KO in the second round. Pacquiao’s win made him one of only two to win six world championships in six different weight divisions at the time.

5. Holly Holm knocks out Ronda Rousey at UFC 193

A part of Ronda Rousey will remain in Melbourne after this jaw shattering kick from Holly Holm. Holly Holm will also be fighting on Sunday against Miesha Tate, a fighter who Rousey has beaten twice.

4. Tattooed bully knocked out

Here is a Manspace happy Friday video if we’ve ever seen one. A tattooed “tough guy” got up in the grill of Aussie fighter Ben Nguyen who knocked him the f*** out. Ben Nguyen has gone on to bigger and better things now signed with the UFC, no idea what the tattooed “tough guy” is doing these days, probably still trying to get up from that brutal knock out.

3. Juan Manuel Marquez Vs. Manny Pacquiao

The bout was held on December 8, 2012, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Márquez defeated Pacquiao by knockout with one second remaining in the sixth round. It’s kind of hard to see exactly where Pacquiao copped the brunt of the punch, but you know it must have been brutal if he collapsed like that.

2. Chris Weidman knocks out Anderson Silva in UFC 162

You can’t really blame Anderson Silva for being a little cocky coming into this fight winning 33 out of his 37 fights. But in this case it cost him the fight as Weidman clipped him with a left hook which had the Brazilian falling to his knees.

1. Connor Mcgregor knocks out Jose Aldo at UFC 194

There was so much hype building up to this fight which lasted all but 13 seconds.  ‘Mystic Mac’ predicted that Aldo would over extend on a jab and leave himself open and that is exactly what happened to crown the outspoken Irishman UFC featherweight champion.
