A seriously insatiable IPA

Every now and then you come across a beer that seriously changes everything you ever thought or knew about the liquid gold.

It has perhaps happened to me 3 or 4 times. Feral Hop Hog did it. Kaiju Krush did it. Green Beacon Wayfarer did it… and now Capital Brewing’s Rock Hopper IPA has gone and done it.

This super juicy, incredibly tasty brew from the Canberra brewery is a West Coast style IPA is rammed with flavours of mango, passionfruit and melon that finishes slightly dry. It’s a little bitter, but certainly not overwhelming. In fact there’s enough malt going on to make it incredibly easy to drink, unlike some other big IPA’s on the market. It leaves a lovely caramel, toffee not on the palate.

Pouring a nice honey gold, carbonation is soft and dangerously sessionable. Just be careful as it comes in at 6.1% ABV.

I can honestly say, it’s my fave brew of 2020, thus far.

The Nation’s Capital is certainly making its mark on the craft beer scene, and if Capital starts banging out more delicious drops like this, I’ll never say a bad word about the place again.
