Top 10 manliest world records

It’s only natural for men to want to show off their manliness. It’s built into our DNA. Some men wear tight shirts to show off their biceps, some don’t wear a jacket even though they feel cold and some choose to put 13 live rattlesnakes in their mouth to break a world record.

Here is the ‘Top 10 manliest world records.’

10. Most consecutive ‘pinky pull-ups’

Doing pull-ups is already a rather unpleasant and somewhat painful experience, let alone lifting your entire body weight with your pinky fingers. Next time you are at the gym trying to push out one more rep on the bench press, think about Maibam Itomba Meitei, the world record holder from India who did 16 consecutive ‘pinky pull-ups’.

9. Longest moustache

This world record is 42 years in the making. Ram Singh Chauhan of India holds this hairy record for growing his moustache to a staggering 4.29m. He started growing his moustache in 1982 and now spends two hours a day cleaning and combing it.

8. Heaviest weight lifted with the tongue

UK’s Thomas Blackthorne lifted 12.5kg in weight with a hook which was pierced through his tongue. He must love doing it because it was the third time he broke his own record. I wonder if he has thought about taking up lawn bowls as a hobby instead.

7. Most concrete blocks broken by hand

Ali Bahçetepe from Turkey holds the record for smashing through the most blocks of concrete by hand. This Hulk-like performance saw him smash through an incredible 1145 blocks of concrete as if they were cardboard.

6. Heaviest aircraft pulled

It often takes a few people to push a broken down car off to the side of road. So it would take a Herculean effort for one man to pull a CC-177 Globemaster III plane weighing over 188 tonnes. Step in Canadian Kevin Fast who achieved this incredible feat, pulling the aircraft 8.8m. Kevin who is a pastor has broken over 19 power lifting records in his time.

5. Most hot dogs eaten in three minutes

Japanese eating sensation Kobayashi held eight Guinness world Records for eating meatballs, hamburgers, Twinkies, tacos, pizza, ice cream, pasta and hot dogs. He inhaled these hot dogs like they were tic-tacs.

4. Most live rattlesnakes held in the mouth

Some call him the ‘Texas Snake Man’, others call him plain stupid. Either way Jackie Bibby earned the record for holding the most live rattlesnakes in his mouth – a staggering 13.

3. Farthest distance swam under ice

Wim Hof from the Netherlands, breaks records for fun. At one point he held 26 records including ‘longest ice bath’, ‘fastest time to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in shorts’ and ‘fastest half marathon barefoot on snow’. In 2000 Wim swam 57.5m under ice in a Finnish lake while only wearing shorts and goggles. The ‘Iceman’ as he is known uses yoga techniques to slow down his heart rate and retain his body heat.

2. Longest freefall

Exactly 65 years after Chuck Yeager first broke the sound barrier flying an experimental rocket-powered airplane, dare devil Felix Baumgartner completed this crazy feat. The Austrian skydiver jumped from a helium balloon from almost 40km in the air reaching a top speed of 1357km/h. He also became the first person to break the sound barrier without vehicular power.

1. Hardest kick to the groin

All men can relate to the excruciating pain of copping one in the nads. Bearing that in mind, spare a thought for Kirby Roy who voluntarily took a kick to the nether regions from an MMA-trained American Gladiator called Justice. Now that takes balls. So how does one prepare for such a feat? Kirby took thousands of shots to the nuts over many years of martial arts training before volunteering for this one. I sure hope it was worth it.
