Why make it yourself when Brookie’s do a better job?

“Hey Sean, you’re reviewing this one right?” my friend asks.

“Well, tell them it’s f***ing incredible!”

I couldn’t have summed it up better. I’m a negroni fan, and on that – a critical negroni fan – so I was cautiously optimistic heading in. Despite to trepidation, I loved the Brookie’s Byron Negroni, a pre-made cocktail featuring Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin, Adelaide Hills Bitter Orange and Maidenii Sweet Vermouth.

Cape Byron Distillery have proven time and time again that they know what they’re doing when it comes to making a nice Australian spirit but entering the pre-made cocktail game can be a risk.

The cocktail was delicious and it held true to what the distillery does great – Australian botanicals. It could be easy (and understandable) to lose the gentle notes of local botanicals in a cocktail and powerful as the negroni but not this time (and I’m sure not in every other bottle as well).

I love the fact that Brookie’s kept everything local as well, opting for the Adelaide Hills bitter orange and the Victorian-based Maidenii vermouth. All that you have to do is pour it over ice, throw an orange wedge in there if you want and enjoy!

As we creep up to the holiday season, it’s worth mentioning that Byron Bay Distillery has curated gift packages available or if you just know someone who loves a negroni, it’s worth grabbing a bottle and putting it under the tree.
